The Grand Paradeis honoured to presentGeoffrey Chaucer's 'Canterbury Tales'Sponsored by The British Horse SocietyWatch, cheer and marvel as those pilgrims ride before you in England's Medieval Festival's famous Grand Parade.The Grand Parade will commence in the Kids Kingdom and proceed past the Castle where you can follow the pilgrims on their journey, not on this occasion to Canterbury Cathedral but to the Grand Arena, whereupon they will ceremoniously display themselves infront of you, the audience - our judges! This is a competition for our pilrims and we look to you to cast your vote! Ye Olde British Horse Society will have a stand located in the Craft Marquee and you are requested to visit them to vote for your favourite character. The winners will receive rosettes and a daily prize with a trophy awarded on the final day of the Festival for the overall best character. Here are just some of the characters you may expect to see from this famous tale: The Canon's Yeoman - The Clerk of Oxford The Cook - The Doctor of Physic The Franklin -The Friar The Knight - The Man of Law The Manciple The Merchant The Miller - The Monk The Nun's Priest - The Pardoner The Parson - The Prioress The Second Nun - The Shipman The Squire - The Steward The Summoner - The Wife of Bath and of course...Chaucer himself! |
